Dim sum, or "touch the heart", is a light Chinese meal traditionally taken with family or friends in the morning or early afternoon. The meaning is understood to imply generosity, that you should eat until your heart is content; but through persistent usage it has come also to mean "morsel" or "snack".
At a dim sum restaurant, you'll have an opportunity to sample a variety of dim sum in individually-sized portions served from bamboo skewers.
Ask what type of dim sum is in them . Too bad, we're not yet expert in Thail language so we just lift the lid and take a look anf if we like it we give it to the wait person.
Avoid ordering too much at once. It may be more filling than you expect.
Leave the empty dim sum plates and baskets near your area of the table so the wait person can calculate your bill when you are finished. Some dim sum restaurants may provide you with a small card that the waitperson will stamp each time you choose a plate or basket of dim sum.
