Father's Day celebration

It's Father's Day yesterday and we went out to treat our dear daddy of the house at Ma Maison-a Bakery and a Coffee House located at the corner of Klongrien 1 Road, Hatyai City, Thailand. It's our first time in that place and we like the way they treated us as customers. It's a small place, very neat and clean, very comfy and has a very home-like ambiance. I like the quietness of the place (because we're the only customers...LOL!) and the owner of the place can speak English.

The place:

The best daddy in the world:)

yummy cakes:

the mommy can't resist the urge to have a photo too:)

We order the milk cake. The cake "floats" on a milk and the cake tastes like "leche flan" minus the too much sweetness. Cocoa powder is on top of it.

Kiwi frappes is for me.

Blueberry smoothies for my dear.

More yummy food found at Perfectly Blended by Bogie. It's indeed a yummy day for us:)

Tricks on eating less

It's rainy season and I observed that I overindulge on food! I should find a way to eat fewer calories throughout the day to maintain a healthy weight…hmmmm..no…I would rather say to lose weight. While food choice is important, research has also shown that the ways in which food is stored and served-and the environment in which it is eaten-can be significant factors that can lead you to unknowingly consume unwanted calories.

The following are simple tips that can help us avoid eating more than we want:

• Select smaller bowls, plates, and spoons for serving and eating. Research has shown that people unconsciously eat more food when it’s served in or eaten from larger dishes.
• Get rid of high-calorie foods or leftovers; store them in an inconvenient location or in opaque containers. Seeing a food item can trigger you to eat it. Plus, easy-to-reach food in a kitchen cabinet or refrigerator is more readily eaten than is food hidden in an inconvenient location. Exploit these phenomena by placing healthy, low-calorie foods within sight and easy reach.
• Buy small packages and serve or order smaller quantities. Larger packages or larger portions often lead people to eat more than they would have if the serving or package were smaller.

After serving appropriate portions, put leftovers away immediately or, at a minimum, keep the serving dishes away from the dining table.

Hope to eat less from this day onward.
